SB 801 - This act creates Chapter 324 and regulates the practice of dietetics in the following ways:

1) Section 324.001 defines relevant terms;

2) Section 324.003 establishes the "State Committee of Dietitians";

3) Section 324.006 details who may use the title "licensed dietitian", "dietitian" or "L.D.", and what persons are exempt from this act;

4) Section 324.009 states that dietitians may not practice medicine, and shall only practice dietetics within the scope of the licensee's education and training;

5) Section 324.015 details the criteria and standards which applicants must satisfy before receiving their license;

6) Section 324.020 addresses the particulars of the application and license renewal process, including the setting of appropriate fees by administrative rule. Fees are to be placed in the newly created "Dietitian Fund";

7) Section 324.025 deals with reciprocity issues;

8) Section 324.030 allows the Department of Economic Development, Division of Professional Registration, to deny or revoke a license for any one of several detailed "causes";

9) Section 324.035 gives the Division the authority to prosecute persons who violate the provisions of this Chapter; and

10) Section 324.040 provides that health insurance policies do not have to pay for the services of a dietitian.
