Current Bill Summary

SB 716- This act makes two changes to the Juvenile Crime Bill passed as CCS/SS/SCS/HB 174 in 1995. These changes are: 1) the elimination of racial disparity as a factor that the court must consider in deciding whether to certify a child as an adult; and 2) the repeal of language that allowed the court to commit a juvenile offender, who is not certified, to a minimum length of commitment with the Division of Youth Services.
