SCS/SB 698 - Federal law allows the Secretary of Veterans' Affairs to grant matching funds to states which meet certain requirements for the establishment of state-owned veterans' cemeteries.

This act would require the establishment of a state-owned veterans' cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. The Executive Director of the Missouri Veterans' Commission is given the authority to take actions necessary for the establishment of the cemetery.

Land is conveyed to the State by the city of Springfield, Missouri. If construction of the veterans' cemetery has not begun by November 28, 1998, the land described shall revert to the city of Springfield.
