Current Bill Summary

SB 564 - This act revises Missouri law regarding earthquake preparedness. Each school district shall be required to give annual, written notice to the State Board of Education specifying when earthquake drills were held in each school in the district during the last school year. Each school district shall provide annual notice of scheduled earthquake drills at the beginning of each school year by distributing forms to all students or posting notice in a general circulation newpaper, or both.

School districts shall not receive facilities safety credit towards accreditation by the State Board if the district fails to conduct required earthquake drills or fails to provide required notice of scheduled drills.
