Current Bill Summary

SB 548 - This act would reduce the number of elections in Missouri. With certain exceptions for disasters, vacancies, tie votes, or elections where ownership of real property is required by law for voting, all public elections shall be held on: general election day (November, even years); primary election day (August, even years); general municipal election day (April, every year); the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March, June, or November; or on another day as expressly provided by city or county charter.

After August 28, 2001, no city or county charter or charter amendment shall call for elections to be held on dates other than on the dates listed above.

Any city or county which holds elections on dates other than as specified above will have five years to change its charter.
