Current Bill Summary

SB 332 - This act allows candidates for a fire protection district board to file only at the county election authority. Currently, there is a problem with two individuals filing at the same time in two or more places.

This act also allows a fire protection district board to adopt ordinances to impose fines not in excess of $500. An accused person may either appear in court or pay the fine. Failure to do either will result in prosecution by the prosecuting attorney.

The authority of a fire protection district to impose a sales tax is clarified to make it clear that the levy of 40 cents (currently 30 cents) for operating expense is in addition to other sales tax sections that allow a levy.
