SB 265 - This act provides that St. Louis and Kansas City may collect ten dollars per month from people placed on probation for ordinance violations. This fee will cover the cost of providing rehabilitation services. The court may exempt such a fee if any of the following factors exist: 1) the offender has been unable, in good faith, to find a job so that he could make such payments; 2) the offender is currently a student; 3) the offender is handicapped; 4) the offender is too young to find a job; 5) the offender is responsible for dependents so that the fee would be a hardship; 6) there are other extenuating circumstances; or 7) the offender has been transferred outside the state under an interstate compact.
