SB 145 - This act pertains to the Kansas City Civilian Retirement System and contains provisions similar to those in SB 140 (Police Retirement) which allow members of the system to purchase up to two years of military service time for credit in the Civilian Retirement System. The member would have to pay the actuarial value of such service and would also have two years to make such election to purchase.

The act also contains provisions on a supplemental health insurance retirement benefit of $50 per month from retirement to age 65.

Finally, the act clarifies the return of accumulated contributions on the death of a member and eliminates the need to keep these subaccounts in the Civilian Retirement System.
