Current Bill Summary

SB 36 - This act would allow the Regional Planning Commission for the Bootheel, comprised of Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Scott, Stoddard, and Pemsicot counties, to establish a not for profit corporation to be known as the "Southeast Missouri Regional Human Development District.

The Development District will be governed by a Commission comprised of one person from each county in the district. The terms of the Commissioners will begin on January 1, 1997 or as soon as appointments are made and approved. Costs of the Commission shall be provided for from grants and local funds.

The Commission will review the district's needs for education, vocational training, employment, youth programs, juvenile services and correctional services. It will assist local governments and non-profit agencies in obtaining grants for these types of programs.
