Current Bill Summary

SB 7 - This act broadens the definition of a dangerous felony. A dangerous felony shall be defined as: a) an offense, an element of which is the use, attempted use, or threatened use of physical force against the person or property of another, or b) any other felony that involves a high risk of physical force being used.

Any person convicted of a felony with a dangerous weapon is also guilty of armed criminal action and shall serve a consecutive sentence in addition to the sentence arising from the underlying felony. Subsequent convictions of armed criminal action shall also be served by consecutive sentences.
