HJR 29 -- State Board of Education
This proposed constitutional amendment changes the size and method of selection of the State Board of Education. Under current law, the 8 members of the board are appointed by the Governor for 8 year terms and no more than 4 members may be affiliated with the same political party. The bill expands the board to 9 members, one elected from each of the 9 congressional districts, and reduces the term of office to 4 years.
