HB 628 -- Information Requests from the Department of Social Services

Current law allows the Department of Social Services and the Division of Child Support Enforcement to request certain kinds of information related to orders for child support or concerning public assistance recipients. This bill changes the amount of time that businesses or financial entities have to comply with these requests for information from the department or from the division from 60 days to 30 days. In addition, the civil penalty of $100 per day for noncompliance with the information requests begins after the 30 day period ends, rather than after the end of the 60 day period.
