Current Bill Summary

HB 297 - This act requires a legally separated or divorced spouse, who has been receiving insurance protection under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), who is intending to continue insurance coverage under the plan pursuant to Section 376.892, RSMo, to notify the plan administrator at least 60 days prior to the expiration of the 36 month COBRA continuation period.

This act also requires a surviving spouse who is eligible for continued coverage to notify the plan administrator within 30 days of the death of the certificate holder or within 30 days prior to the expiration of the 36 month COBRA continuation period, if such spouse has decided to maintain COBRA coverage.
