COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Science, Technology and Critical Issues by a vote of 17 to 0.

This bill repeals the requirement that graduates from reputable medical and osteopathic colleges applying to the State Board for the Healing Arts for a temporary license to practice medicine provide proof that they have completed steps one and two of the United States Medical Licensing Examination or the National Board of Osteopathic Examiners Examination.

The bill has an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill is necessary to ensure an adequate supply of physicians in medical training programs.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Smith; Missouri Hospital Association; Missouri State Medical Association; and Board of Healing Arts.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
