Current Bill Summary

SB 552 - Currently, the Nursing Education Incentive Program limits grants awarded under the program to no more than $150,000. This act removes that cap. Additionally, the Board of Nursing shall collect, at the time of license application or renewal, a surcharge for the program of $1 per year for practical nurses and $5 per year for professional nurses to be deposited in the Board of Nursing fund. This is the surcharge that is currently assessed under the Nursing Student Loan Program, which is repealed under this act.

Finally, this act repeals the Nursing Student Loan Program and the Nursing Student Loan Repayment Program.

This act is identical to provisions in the truly agreed to and finally passed HCS/SS/SCS/SB 106 (2023), the truly agreed to and finally passed SS/HB 402 (2023), the truly agreed to and finally passed SS/SCS/HCS/HB 417 (2023), the truly agreed to and finally passed HCS/SS/SCS/SB 70 (2023), the truly agreed to and finally passed CCS/HCS/SS/SCS/SB 45 & 90 (2023), the truly agreed to and finally passed CCS/HCS/SS/SCS/SB 157 (2023), and HB 775 (2023).
