HB 35 Billington, Hardy
HB 35 -- RETIREMENT OF JUDGES
SPONSOR: Billington
This bill changes the age of retirement for judges from 70 to 75. This change is contingent upon the passing of a Constitutional amendment.
Currently, retired judges under the age of 76 may practice law if they make themselves available to be appointed counsel for indigent offenders, and retired judges age 76 or older may practice law regardless of whether they make themselves available to be appointed counsel for indigent offenders. This bill removes the requirement that judges of a certain age make themselves available to be appointed counsel for indigent offenders and allows retired judges of any age to practice law.
