Current Bill Summary

SB 1241 - Under current law, peace officers are required to receive between 470 and 600 hours of basic training for licensure. This act adds that of those training hours, 30 hours of training and instruction in United States and Missouri constitutional law shall be required. The curriculum shall be developed and presented in consultation with the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.

Additionally, this act provides that peace officers shall be required to receive three hours of training within the three year reporting period on statutory and constitutional law updates as part of their continuing education requirement.
