Current Bill Summary

SB 922 - This act prohibits the sale of over-the-counter diet pills or dietary supplements for weight loss or muscle building to any person under eighteen years of age. Retail establishments selling such products shall conspicuously post at each purchase counter a notice developed and provided by the Department of Health and Senior Services clearly communicating that certain diet pills or dietary supplements are known to cause specified medical conditions or death. Retail establishments that violate the provisions of this act shall be punished by a fine of no more than $2,000. Any violation of this act shall constitute an unlawful practice under the state Merchandising Practices law.
