Current Bill Summary

SB 901 - This act creates new provisions establishing county commission district political party committees. Specifically, each established political party is required to have a county commission district committee for each county commission, county council, and county legislative district for each county in the state. The committee is required to meet four weeks after the effective date of this act for the purpose of electing a chair, vice chair, treasurer, and secretary. All subsequent meetings shall take place no earlier than 7 weeks nor later than 8 weeks following each primary election.

The act further stipulates that the county commission district political party committee shall be the nominating committee for purposes of selecting a candidate for election in the case of vacancies in the office of county commissioner, county council, or county legislator.

This act is identical to SB 267 (2021).
