Current Bill Summary

SB 1048 - This act provides that when a public entity enters into a contract with a company, as defined in the act, the company must have a written verification that it does not have a practice or policy that discriminates against a firearm entity or firearm trade association.

This act shall not apply to a public entity that contracts with a sole source providers or if the public entity does not receive any bids from a company that is able to provide such written verification.

Additionally, a contract entered into by a public entity in connection with the issuance of a bond shall be exempt from this act if the Director of Revenue or a county treasurer concludes that compliance with this act will prevent the issuance of a bond that is sufficient to address the anticipated cash flow required by the contractual obligation or compliance will prevent the administration of matters related to the bond. The Director of Revenue shall survey potential bidders to determine if other bidders can provide the written verification and evaluate the historical bidding performance of such potential bidders before making a determination.

This act is similar to SB 492 (2021).
