SCS/SB 697 - This act creates provisions relating to animals.

PET BREEDERS WEEK (Section 9.315)

This act designates the second full week of March every year as Pet Breeders Week in Missouri.

These provisions are identical to provisions in the truly agreed to and finally passed CCS/SS/SCS/HCS/HB 1720 (2022) and the truly agreed to and finally passed SS/SCS/HCS/HB 2627 (2022) and to SB 1200 (2022).

BREED SPECIFIC ORDINANCES (Section 67.142)

Under this act, a village, town, city, or county may prohibit dogs from running at large or further control or regulate dogs within its boundaries so long as the ordinance, order, policy, or regulation is not breed specific. Additionally, this act requires political subdivisions to bring any ordinance into compliance with this act by December 31, 2023.

These provisions are identical to HCS/HB 1657 (2022) and HB 1588 (2022) and substantially similar to SB 107 (2021) and HCS/HBs 2241 & 2244 (2020).
