Current Bill Summary

SB 950 - This act modifies provisions of current law prohibiting the State Board of Education from mandating the curriculum, textbooks, or other instructional materials to be used in public schools by allowing the Board to require certain history curriculum topics as described in the act. (Section 160.516)

Under this act, the Board shall adopt and require that the history curriculum taught in the 7th through 12th grades include topics of Native American history and African American history, as further described in the act. (Section 170.342)

This act is similar to HB 1776 (2022).
