Current Bill Summary

SB 588 - This act authorizes the General Assembly to review any executive order issued by the President of the United States, any federal agency rule, or any federal Congressional action to determine the constitutionality of such action. The General Assembly can also recommend that the Attorney General review such action by the federal government and whether the state should seek an exemption from the application of such action or seek to have the action declared unconstitutional.

If the Attorney General declines to pursue action, the General Assembly may declare the action unconstitutional by the passage of a concurrent resolution. This act provides that the state, any political subdivision, and any publicly-funded organization shall not implement any action that restricts a person's rights or that is determined to be unconstitutional in certain areas as described in the act.
