Current Bill Summary

SB 542 - This act prohibits the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations from recovering any employment security benefits that were incorrectly but nonfraudulently distributed to claimants if such benefits were provided from the federal government under the federal CARES Act, or any subsequent federal relief program, and the federal government has granted authority to the state to waive the recovery of such benefits.

This act is substantially similar to a provision in SS/HCS/HBs 1083, et al. (2021) and SCS/SB 481 (2021).
