Current Bill Summary

SB 430 - This act provides that the Attorney General is authorized to appoint commissioned and noncommissioned investigators. Each commissioned investigator shall take an oath and shall receive a certificate of appointment issued by the Attorney General that grants such commissioned investigators all the same powers of arrest held by peace officers to maintain order and preserve peace in any matter in which the Attorney General is appointed or assigned. A copy of the certificate shall be filed with the Secretary of State. Additionally, commissioned investigators may assist law enforcement agencies when requested.

This act is substantially similar to HB 1424 (2021).
