Sen. Brian Williams to Return to State Capitol Next Week

JEFFERSON CITY – State Sen. Brian Williams, D-University City, along with his fellow legislators, will return to the State Capitol on Monday, April 27, to resume the 2020 legislative session. The General Assembly is constitutionally required to create and pass a balanced budget for the upcoming fiscal year during each legislative session.

“Unfortunately, due to the spread of COVID-19 in our state, the legislative session was put on pause while our federal, state and local leaders responded to the pandemic,” Sen. Williams said. “I know this has been a difficult time for many Missourians. Despite the challenge of social distancing, I remain committed to serving my constituents and our state as a whole during this pandemic. At this point in time, our state has many needs, and I believe it is critical that the members of the Missouri General Assembly return to the State Capitol and pass a balanced budget that funds our state government and the critical services it provides to all Missourians.”

Legislators will return to the State Capitol on Monday, April 27, to resume the 2020 legislative session. The last day of the 2020 legislative session is scheduled for May 15.
