SB 562 - Under current law, any person who commits any felony with the use, assistance, or aid of a dangerous instrument or deadly weapon is guilty of the crime of armed criminal action which is punishable by imprisonment for a term no less than 3 years. This act increases the penalty to no less than 5 years. Under current law, any person convicted of a second offense of armed criminal action shall be punished by imprisonment for a term no less than 5 years. This act increases the penalty to no less than 10 years. Finally, under current law any person convicted of a third offense of armed criminal action shall be punished by imprisonment for a term no less than 10 years.
