Current Bill Summary

SB 850 - This act specifies that the penalty for failure to pay a health insurance claim within 45 days as required by law shall be "five percent of the claim", rather than "one percent of the claim per day". The act also provides that interest and penalties shall begin to accrue the day after the claimant appeals the denial to the health carrier.

This act is similar to provisions in the truly agreed to and finally passed SS/SCS/HCS/HB 1682 (2020), and to HB 2089 (2020),
