State Sen. Shalonn “Kiki” Curls Encourages Residents of the 9th Senatorial District to Check Missouri’s Unclaimed Property List

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Shalonn “Kiki” Curls, D-Kansas City, encourages residents of the 9th Senatorial District to review the unclaimed property list compiled by the state treasurer, which is available at showmemoney.com. Individuals who find their name on the list, or can provide proof of being the legal heir of someone on the list, can contact the Treasurer’s Office to reclaim their property free of charge.

According to the state treasurer, one in 10 Missourians has unclaimed property, with the total amount of unclaimed property in the state totaling $1 billion. In the 9th Senatorial District alone, the state treasurer says there is more than $24.2 million in unclaimed property divided into approximately 204,964 separate accounts. Unclaimed property may belong to an individual, a business or a local government entity.

Unclaimed property claims can be filed online through the website listed above, or through postal mail by writing to the Treasurer’s Office at PO Box 1004, Jefferson City, MO 65102-1004.
