Sen. Caleb Rowden’s Legislative Column for the Week of April 1, 2019

Over the course of the past two weeks, I have had the pleasure of meeting with several groups from our community during their visits to the State Capitol.

Senator Rowden with employees of CMMG in Boonville.

Representatives from CMMG visited my office on April 2 for Buy Missouri Day. CMMG is a large manufacturer based in Boonville, Missouri. Buy Missouri is an initiative from the lieutenant governor’s office that promotes products that are grown, manufactured, processed or made in Missouri to stimulate and grow the state’s economy. It was a pleasure to meet with them and talk about their business.

Senator Rowden with students from Zion Lutheran School in Bunceton.

Grade school students from Zion Lutheran School in Bunceton, Missouri, visited my office during their school trip to the Capitol on March 27. The students learned about state government and how it functions, and I was happy to talk with them about my experiences as a state legislator.

I also met with students studying social work from the University of Missouri. We had a conversation about the issues they are most concerned about and discussed solutions to address those concerns. I enjoyed speaking with these students and learning about the issues they are most passionate about as they prepare to become professionals in the social work field.

Senator Rowden with members of the Central Missouri Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol.

I had the pleasure of meeting with the Central Missouri Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol from Columbia, Missouri. The Civil Air Patrol is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to aerospace education and emergency services, as well as its cadet program. It was a pleasure to speak with them and learn more about the opportunities available for adult membership in the organization and teen involvement in the cadet program.

Recently, the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee heard appointments to various boards and commissions across the state. I would like to congratulate Barry Orscheln on his appointment to the Conservation Commission. I am confident that Mr. Orscheln will be a great asset to the commission, and I wish him the best as he begins his service.
