Eigel-press release (2)

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the Missouri Division of Tourism will award $188,513 to the city of St. Charles for the purpose of funding marketing projects for local tourist destinations. The city will match the division’s funding, bringing the total amount of this project to more than $337,000.

According to the Division of Tourism, tourism is continually among the top economic industries in Missouri. During the 2017 Fiscal Year, approximately 42 million visitors came to the Show-Me State. More than 313,000 Missourians work in tourist-related positions, and the industry had a $16.8 billion statewide impact during the 2017 Fiscal Year.

“Tourism is a valued part of a healthy economy not just in St. Charles, but throughout the state of Missouri,” Sen. Eigel said. “I am excited about the opportunities this new funding will provide to showcase everything St. Charles has to offer its visitors, both in-state and out-of-state, for recreation, entertainment, history and more.”

Funds from the Division of Tourism may be used for search engine marketing, media advertising and investment in approved tourism marketing platforms.
