Current Bill Summary

SB 360 - This act repeals current law granting foster parents standing to participate in all court hearings pertaining to a child in their care. Instead, a current foster parent or preadoptive parent or relative currently providing care for the child shall be provided notice and an opportunity to be heard in all court hearings pertaining to the child. A foster parent of a child in certain juvenile court proceedings with whom the child has resided for at least six months shall have the right to intervene in proceedings relating to abuse and neglect unless the judge finds that such intervention is against the best interest of the child. The right of the foster parent to intervene may terminate upon the adoption of the child.

This act is similar to provisions in HCB 12 (2018) and SB 1073 (2016).
