Current Bill Summary

SB 242 - This act specifies that the Director of the Department of Revenue shall have the authority to issue historic motor vehicle license plates without a mileage restriction as a category of special license plates.

To be eligible, a motor vehicle shall be at least 25 years old and shall meet all other requirements for standard registration. Issuance of the plates shall be subject to the same 25 dollar fee as is currently charged for historic vehicle plates, unless the vehicle was previously registered as a historic motor vehicle by the same owner. Vehicles displaying historic license plates as provided in these provisions shall not be considered historic motor vehicles for the purposes of any exception to the laws of Missouri.
