Munzlinger Banner - 011017

As is the custom this time of year, I like to take time to let you hear from my interns. In addition to my regular office staff, I have some wonderful and capable people helping with all the duties that come with representing you in the 18th Senatorial District.

Kirsten Cloyd, daughter of Ron and Diana Cloyd, is a native of Taylorville, Illinois. She was raised on a small farm in rural Christian County with row-crops and livestock operations. Cloyd will be graduating from Mizzou this May with an Animal Science degree and a minor in Agricultural Leadership. Previously serving as intern during the 2017 legislative session, she has returned this year as the office’s part-time Communications/Constituent Services Specialist. Cloyd hopes to pursue a career in public policy in the animal agricultural industry.

Baylee Siegel grew up in rural Mid-Missouri on her family’s farm. Siegel is currently attending the University of Missouri where she studies Agricultural Economics, emphasizing in public policy. She is a member of the AgriBusiness Club, Collegiate CattleWomen and CAFNR True Tiger, a branch of the Mizzou Alumni Association. While she stays busy at school, she enjoys going home to help her dad with her family’s cow-calf operation.

Haleigh Karl grew up in a small town, Gower, within rural Northwest Missouri, where she attended East Buchanan High School. Haleigh was quite involved in her community through 4-H, Haleigh’s TLC Packages, FFA and many other organizations and community services projects alike. Haleigh now attends the University of Missouri-Columbia where she is majoring in Environmental Sciences and Political Science. At the University of Missouri-Columbia, Haleigh is a member of the Alpha Chi chapter in Sigma Alpha professional sorority, where she is supporting her community, obtaining professionalism and advocating for women in agriculture. Haleigh’s future career aspirations are to attend law school and find a job within agriculture policy.

Emily Hogan comes to us from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she is currently a freshman, studying both Biology and Political Science. From the small farm town of Old Monroe, Emily grew up in a close-knit community that taught her how important hard work and generosity are when it comes to being successful in life. In high school, she was the valedictorian, student body president and captain of the girls’ soccer team. Now, she hopes to continue to develop her leadership skills in college. Currently, Emily is an active member of the Chi Omega sorority on campus, along with also being involved in Mizzou Alternative Breaks, the Newman Center and the Pre-med Society.

Samuel F. Wright splits his time between Jefferson City, where he serves as my policy director, and the University of Missouri, where he is pursuing a degree in Finance and Banking. Previously, Sam served as deputy chief of staff to the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee chairman. In his free time, he enjoys hunting pheasants and breeding his Bernese Mountain dogs.

Thanks to all of my interns for all they do.
