Statement from Sen. Munzlinger Regarding Gordon Warren Award

Munzlinger Banner Fall - Statement - 110317

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, today issued the following statement relating to receiving the Gordon Warren University Extension Land-Grant Award:

“I am humbled to have received this high honor. When you grow up on a farm and need answers, you learn pretty fast that a good source for accurate information is the county Extension office. As a graduate of the University of Missouri, especially the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, I am vigilant of the role the land grant mission plays in rural areas. The University of Missouri and University Extension are such vital resources for, and proponents of, agriculture. I thank them for all they do and thank everybody involved for this great award.”

The mission of the University of Missouri System, as a land-grant institution, is to discover, disseminate, preserve and apply knowledge. Missouri is in a great position with the current University of Missouri System leadership, which has thoroughly enhanced the university’s promotion of lifelong learning by Missouri’s citizens.

The Gordon Warren University Extension Land-Grant Award began in 1991 with the first award given to Gordon Warren at the extension’s annual conference to recognize a fierce champion for University Extension and the land grant mission. Warren was a civic leader in Pulaski County, who served many years on the county extension council, was mayor, school board member, member of the Missouri Bankers Association, Missouri Health Coordinating Council and more  — all roles in which he linked university resources with people’s needs.
