HB 1366 Modifies provisions relating to the transportation of school children

HCS/HB 1366 - This act modifies criminal background checks of school bus drivers to include those drivers employed by municipalities or any other entity under contract with a school district. If a school bus driver is employed by a municipality or other entity, the criminal background check shall be conducted pursuant to state laws on criminal record review.

The act also authorizes school boards to contract with municipalities to transport high school students. Such contract shall require the presence of an adult supervisor approved by the school board on any municipal vehicle transporting high school students. While transporting such students, municipal vehicles shall include seating designated solely for the students. Municipalities that enter into such contracts shall comply with sections of law as described in the act.

This act is similar to SB 838 (2018), HB 888 (2017), and SB 369 (2017).
