Current Bill Summary

SB 875 - This act requires a firearm owner to report the loss or theft of the firearm, which occurred in the City of St. Louis, within 72 hours after discovering the loss or theft to the local law enforcement agency.

Failure to report a lost or stolen firearm is an infraction.

This act specifies that the recovery of a lost or stolen firearm by law enforcement when the firearm has not been reported as such may be considered evidence that the last recorded owner of the firearm failed to report it as lost or stolen.

This act is similar to SB 181 (2017) and SB 691 (2016).
