JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, hosted his annual “District 18 Local Government Day” at the state Capitol on Tuesday. The event offers northeast Missouri’s city and county officials an opportunity to hear presentations from various state departments and ask questions about the important issues affecting their counties and municipalities.
“As state senator for 14 counties, I’ve found hosting a District 18 Local Government Day every year is one of the most efficient, effective ways to disseminate valuable information and hear concerns and ideas from the hardworking individuals who keep our cities and counties running smoothly,” said Munzlinger.
Attendees were updated directly by state department officials. This year’s agenda included presentations from the Department of Transportation on transportation funding; the Department of Natural Resources on wastewater permitting, community assistance, and waste and wastewater funding; the Department of Labor on the minimum wage and youth unemployment; and much more.
“With Local Government Day, my goal has always been pretty simple: that everyone who participates will come away with valuable information they can take back to their city or county, turn that information into positive action and ultimately help make not only the 18th Senate District, but all of Missouri a better place.
“We had another great turnout this year, and the day once again proved to be productive and informative,” Munzlinger added. “I want to thank each and every person, all the new folks and familiar faces, who attended and who helped put this event together.”
