SB 49 - This act allows voters in Saint Louis City and St. Louis, Jefferson, St. Charles, and Franklin Counties to approve the adoption of an additional sales tax in an amount up to 1/8th of one cent to fund the Saint Louis Zoo.

A zoological support trust fund is established to receive all revenue received under the sales tax. Moneys in the fund shall not be commingled with state funds and shall be distributed monthly to the Zoological Sales Tax Fund Commission, which is created by the act. The number of members representing each jurisdiction shall be determined by the amount of sales tax collected, as described in the act, and the members shall be appointed by the chief executive officer of the county or the mayor of the City of Saint Louis. The commission shall have the responsibility of oversight for all sales taxes collected under the act.
