HB 813 Modifies provisions relating to the regulation of certain professions

HB 813 - This act provides that inspections of cone beam computed tomography systems and panoramic x-ray systems shall not be required to be inspected more frequently than every 6 years. A cone beam computed tomography system is a medical imaging device which uses x-ray computed tomography to capture data using a cone-shaped x-ray beam. A panoramic x-ray system is an imaging device that captures the entire mouth in a single, 2-dimensional image that includes the teeth, upper and lower jaws, and surrounding structures and tissues. (Section 192.500)

This act also provides that inspections of x-ray equipment used exclusively on animals by a licensed veterinarian or veterinary facility shall not be required to be inspected more frequently than every 6 years.

This act requires the Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners to issue a duplicate license, by mail, when a licensed cosmetologist or barber submits a form, electronically or by mail, explaining that the original license has been destroyed, lost, mutilated beyond practical usage, or was never received. (Sections 328.025 and 329.033)

This act allows licensed hospitals to employ a dentist, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and a maxillofacial prosthodontist to treat conditions specified in the act. (Section 332.081)

This act also provides that the payment of fees or royalties for services to a dental franchisor, as part of a valid franchise agreement, is permitted. (Section 332.083).

The continuing education requirements for licensed speech-language pathologists and audiologists is limited to 30 hours triennially under the provisions of this act. (Section 345.051)

Provisions of this act are identical to HB 349 (2017) and HB 815 (2017), and similar to SB 212 (2017), HB 665 (2017), HB 1531 (2016), and HB 832 (2015).
