HB 805 - Under current law, veterans displaying special license plates signifying the operator is a former prisoner of war or a recipient of a Congressional medal of honor, purple heart, or silver star may park in metered parking spaces without charge when displaying a special windshield placard.

This act adds recipients of the Navy Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Cross, Air Force Cross, or Coast Guard Cross to the list of persons eligible to receive such special windshield placard.

This act specifies that the placard shall be available at no cost to the veteran, and shall also be valid for parking in a parking lot or garage on any public college or university in the state, except during a special event where a separate parking fee may apply.

This act is identical to provisions in CCS/HCS/SB 225 (2017).
