HB 248 Establishes the STEM Career Awareness Program

SCS/HB 248 - Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, this act requires the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to establish a statewide program to be known as the STEM Career Awareness Program. Such program shall increase STEM career awareness in students in grades six through eight. The program shall be implemented through an online-based curriculum, as described in the act. DESE may select a third-party nonprofit entity to implement the program.

This act also creates the STEM Career Awareness Program Fund, which shall consist of any appropriations, gifts, bequests, or public or private donations to such fund.
