Current Bill Summary

SJR 1 - Under current law, the regular session of the General Assembly lasts from the first Wednesday after the first Monday in January until May 30th. Under this constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, the regular session would last from the first Wednesday after the first Monday in January until December 20th, with periodic breaks as prescribed in the act. The act further repeals the automatic convening of the General Assembly in September of each year to consider bills vetoed by the Governor and instead permits the reconsideration of vetoed bills at any time.
