SB 1050 - This act requires that no student shall participate in any athletic practice or competition for his or her public school district's athletic program unless he or she has undergone certain preliminary examinations for the purpose of diagnosing brain injuries. Such testing shall be required for every season of every sport in which a student participates.

Each school district shall develop a concussion policy by July 1, 2017, as described in the act.

All coaches, teachers, staff, school counselors, and administrators shall receive training on how to handle concussions, in accordance with the district's concussion policy.

A school district shall file an incident report regarding all instances of a suspected concussion or brain injury.

A student who has been removed from play due to a suspected concussion or brain injury shall not return to play until he or she receives an examination in which the student is assessed for physical symptoms and undergoes certain tests, as described in the act.
