HCS/HBs 1646, 2132, & 1621 - This act adds the subject of American civics to the exam on the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Missouri, American history, and American institutions that a student must pass to graduate from any public or private schools, other than private trade schools.

This act also establishes the Missouri Civics Education Initiative, which requires each student entering high school after July 1, 2017, to pass an exam on the provisions and principles of American civics. Such exam shall consist of one hundred questions similar to the questions used by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and may be included in any other exam on the provisions and principles of the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Missouri, American history, and American institutions.

This act is substantially similar to SCS/SB 638 (2016).
