HB 2327 Establishes the Urban Education Institute and modifies provisions relating to teacher-training institutions

HCS/HB 2327 - This act requires all teacher-training institutions that receive state aid to require students to demonstrate proficiency on the concepts of trauma-informed approaches and trauma-specific interventions as defined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Division within the U.S. Department of Health and Senior Services.

This provision is identical to HB 2575 (2016).

This act also establishes the Urban Education Institute, a joint collaboration between students and faculty at Harris-Stowe State University and Lincoln University.

The Institute shall implement a plan for addressing issues with urban education, as described in the act.

This provision shall expire six years from the date of enactment unless reauthorized by an act of the General Assembly.
