HB 1788 Modifies the composition of the Highways and Transportation Commission

HCS/HB 1788 - This act modifies the composition of the Highways and Transportation Commission. Until January 1, 2017, the Commission shall consist of 6 members. Beginning January 1, 2017, the Commission shall consist of 8 members, with not more than 4 being of the same political party, with one commissioner appointed from each of the state's seven Department of Transportation districts, and with one commissioner appointed regardless of residency. Any change to the boundaries of the seven districts shall require approval by the General Assembly under this act. Further, under this act, not more than 2 members shall be any licensed occupation, and 5 members of the Commission shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

This act is substantially similar to HB 1446 (2016) and HB 102 (2015). This act is similar to HB 1050 (2014), HB 1854 (2014), HB 472 (2013), HB 804 (2013), and the perfected HB 1630 (2012).
