Introduced

SB 493 - Beginning in school year 2016-2017, a public school student must pass a course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators to receive a certificate of graduation.

This act requires each public school serving grades nine through twelve to provide instruction in the use of automated external defibrillators.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education must establish procedures for compliance and may adjust state grants and shared revenue amounts based on failure of any school to comply.

This act is identical to HB 457 (2015).
