SCS/HB 533 - Current law states that if after a filing for declaration of candidacy, a candidate files a statement of withdrawal within two working days prior to the deadline for the close of filing, the time for filing for such office shall be extended until 5:00 p.m. of the first Friday following the deadline for the close of filing. This act changes that provision so that if a candidate who files a statement of withdrawal within two working days prior to the deadline for the close of filing, the time of filing for that office shall cease upon said deadline and there shall be a reopening of filing on the first Tuesday after the deadline expires until 5:00 p.m. on the Friday immediately following.
