HCS/HB 444 - This act creates a $500 income tax deduction for taxpayers that have completed at least 12 hours of firefighter training. The act also creates a $1,000 income tax deduction for taxpayers completing certain advanced firefighter training programs. Taxpayers may take the deductions in the year they complete the programs. The first year that taxpayers may take such deductions is 2016. The State Fire Marshall is required to develop training programs which will allow taxpayers to qualify for the deductions. This program will sunset December 31, 2021.

This act is similar to HB 2205 (2014).
